I drove through the Mark Twain National Forest on Tuesday. Tress and more trees. The road was up and down and very winding. Beautiful! I camped in the forest. I had electric hookup and pit toilets. It was very isolated; no cell and no TV service. It really hit me that I was alone.
As I drove through the countryside, the houses were few and very backwoods looking. I stopped at a bar in the middle of nowhere for directions. The people looked like backwoods people, with old trucks and missing teeth. 🙂 I took the back roads to Tennessee where I hit the freeway. Grumpy Smurf comes with on all my trips.
I went to the Meramac Caverns in Stanton, MO. The tour walked for 1.25 miles and took about two hours. Very neat. It is a total of 26 miles long.
